Sounds like a really bad band name, huh? No offense, of course, to the creators of the sports themed indie movie Friday Night Lights--which Explosions In The Sky did the soundtrack for. I haven't seen the movie, but apparently it's actually pretty good.
Anyway. Yes. We climate spoiled Californians are apparently really having a real life lightning storm. To us, this makes no sense. I mean, it's hot and humid--even in the middle of the night--and yet there's lightning and thunder accompanied by light--not heavy, but light--showers? One--being a Californian--begins to wonder if they inadvertently fell down a rabbit (or fox ;p) hole.
Really. Even within the depths of winter when we get rain storm after rain storm do we rarely see/hear lightning and thunder of this magnanimity. Thunder is thunder--yes--yet during one of our storms it's usually the exception versus the rule. I haven't seen very much rain tonight, but there's been near-perpetual thunder since around 2am. Tonight thunder is the rule. And lightning. We usually see the reflection of the lightning off of the clouds more than we see the actual bolts themselves. And, when we do get the privilege of seeing real actual lightning bolts, they're usually very very small--they never hit the ground. Tonight, however, those motherfuckers are large, and visually prevalent. And, it looks like they're definitely coming in contact with the ground somewhere.
It's crazy! And in the middle of summer! What the fuck?!?
Yeah yeah. Something having to do with a hurricane down in Mexico. I know. Shut up. I don't need to hear your damn scientific rationalizations. For once, I'd like to just be some primitive caveman, and ooh and ahh at the wonder that is the world we live in. Knowing is useful at times, but I find oohing and ahhing a much more pleasurable experience. It makes this curse we call life much more enjoyable.
Is that okay? Yeah! It better be!
...so :P~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ on you!
Ha! Whatchu got now biatch?!? ::smooch::

It was wonderful, a bunch of drunk kids all huddled together, looking up at the sky.
It could only have been better if we were saying naive yet profound things to eachother, instead of things like, "holy shit" & "jesus".

And yeah. It was beautiful--except for the not-getting-hit-by-lightning part. I'm not even lucky enough to be unlucky! Do you believe this nonsense?!?
And I was trying to be naive and profound, but then some douche-bag--I dun even remember who; maybe Matt--had to mention the whole hurricane in mexico thing! Damn westerners and their magicidal tendencies! Grrrrrrrr! I'll give them some scientic evidence..... up the ass!
Of course, you gotta admit: the concept of Jesus taking a holy shit is kinda profound in its own special way.
